"Biobanking Challenge" game

With the "Biobanking Challenge", the German Biobank Network (GBN) has published a board game for players aged ten and over that provides an entertaining insight into the work of biobanks and their relevance for research. "Biobanking Challenge" is played by two to five players at a time and lasts around 20 minutes, depending on the level of difficulty selected. It is particularly suitable as an innovative element in university teaching, for events such as the Long Night of Science, open days in biobanks or for work in schools.

In the "Biobanking Challenge", the players slip into the role of researchers who are carrying out a scientific project and need biosamples and associated data to do so. They familiarise themselves with the tasks of the biobank and collect the required resources on the playing field. A good memory, an understanding of the processes in the biobank and team spirit are necessary to achieve the common goal - the publication of the research results.

The board game "Biobanking Challenge" is an adaptation of the game "The Mysterious Forest", which is based on an idea by Carlo A. Rossi and was published by IELLO in 2016. "Biobanking Challenge" is available at cost price and can be delivered within Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein.
