BBMRI-ERIC is a pan-European infrastructure of national biobanking networks. The abbreviation BBMRI-ERIC stands for "Biobanking and Biomolecular Resources Research Infrastructure - European Research Infrastructure Consortium". The GBN represents the interests of German biobanks in this organisation.
BBMRI-ERIC is building a Europe-wide biobanking research infrastructure to facilitate access to biospecimens and associated data as research resources and to support high-quality biomedical research. BBMRI-ERIC is supported by the participating member states and the respective national biobank nodes. The German Biobank Network (GBN) represents the interests of German biobanks in the pan-European network.
BBMRI-ERIC currently consists of 21 member states and four observers, making it one of the largest Reseach Infrastructures in Europe.
Members: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Observer: Denmark, Qatar, Turkey, IARC/WHO
