NUKLEUS at the NUM Convention 2026

The NUM Clinical Epidemiology and Study Platform NUKLEUS was represented at the NUM Convention 2026 with several contributions and provided insights into its support services, current research approaches and the further development of the NUM infrastructure.

In the session "Your study. Our support. Full power to publication." Sabine Hanß, together with colleagues from the NUM Methods & Biosample Hub and the NUM Study Network , presented central services for researchers in the Network University Medicine. Peter Ihle also presented the new NUKLEUS work packageData Acquisition and Processing Centre for External Data (DAAeD), which opens up research opportunities based on healthcare-related data, for example from health insurance or cancer registry data.

A workshop by Julia Vorrath focussed on the growing importance of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in clinical research. Using examples from the former NUM research project National Pandemic Cohort Network (NAPKON ), it was shown how patient perspectives can be systematically recorded and used as study endpoints.

Another workshop focussed on tools and data flows in the NUM study network. Together with the participants, requirements and processes were analysed in order to better align the study portal with the entire life cycle of clinical studies in the future.
Sabine Hanß also took part in the panel discussion on the NUM4Rare and NUM RAPID registries funded by NUM and explained their role in the NUM ecosystem and the collaboration with NUKLEUS.

Initial results were presented at the symposium on the RAPID platform trial on post-COVID treatments. In addition, the speakers discussed experiences from the implementation, the new study arm "ELAPSE" as well as statistical peculiarities and challenges of platform trials.
