Please feel free to contact us for a free initial consultation

The Biosample Core Unit (BCU) manages all aspects relating to biosamples in NUM studies. We advise and support researchers on all matters relating to biosamples – from planning the biosample panel through to collection, processing and storage, right up to sample release, with a focus on liquid biosamples. By harmonising and standardising processes, as well as through quality assurance (including SOPs/study manuals, training, a helpdesk and audits), the Biosample Core Unit helps to ensure high-quality biosamples for robust molecular analyses. The aim is to provide efficient and transparent access to biological samples and the molecular data generated from them – in close collaboration with the NUM study centres/biobanks, as well as the NUKLEUS transfer centre and the NUKLEUS LIMS.

BCU outputs

The National Pandemic Cohort Network (NAPKON) was launched in July 2020 as part of the NUM and brings together previously decentralised national research activities within a common framework of cohorts and infrastructure.

Role of NUM-MB

  • Support for the re-use of biological samples
  • Release of biological samples
  • Release of data associated with biological samples

Further information

The Specialty Network Infectious Diseases (SNID) supports studies in the field of infectious diseases and strengthens the clinical research landscape in Germany. As the first Study Network within the NUM, it builds on the structures of NAPKON and NUKLEUS.

Role of NUM-MB
