The NUM Platform for Immunity Research (COVIM) comprises five work packages. Administrative project coordination is handled by the central Project Management Office (PMO), which ensures the flow of information and synergy between the individual COVIM work packages, as well as coordination with other NUM-FIS and external partners (WP1). Requests to use the measurement platform are formally reviewed by the PMO and forwarded to the Scientific and Technical Coordination team (WP2) for further substantive processing. This unit undertakes advisory and coordination tasks in liaison with COVIM partners and external stakeholders, such as users of the measurement platform (academia, public health or industry). Together with WP1, it also coordinates the expansion process from 10 to 24 laboratories from 2027 onwards.
Furthermore, the Technical and Scientific Coordination unit ensures effective communication and the organisation of efficient standardisation and the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), whilst also ensuring the implementation of rigorous quality management. The COVIM laboratories maintain close communication with one another, organised by AP1. They implement standardisation and quality management measures and carry out the immunological measurements (AP3). The COVIM ImmunoHub (AP4) enables the decentralised analysis of collected immunological data according to the principles of swarm learning (via ‘data visiting’). Depending on the research question and the users’ needs, services may include a comprehensive analysis with ready-to-use aggregated data and analysis results, support with data evaluation and interpretation of the results, or the transmission of immune data (AP5).
