What are professional networks?

The specialist networks are an essential part of the NUM Study Network. Whilst the NUM Study Network, as an overarching infrastructure, provides the technical, organisational and legal foundations, the specialist networks act as its recruitment platforms.

Our specialist networks are thematically focused and centrally coordinated research networks that bring together in-depth expertise in specific disease areas. This offers various advantages:

  • efficient and coordinated conduct of multicentre trials
  • improved patient recruitment for disease-specific trials throughout Germany
  • harmonisation of protocols, tools and data standards
  • nationwide development of best practices and effective clinical research methods
  • promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and methodological innovation
  • rapid deployment and responsiveness

Our specialist networks

Three specialist networks have already been successfully launched within the NUM Study Network, and the plan is to establish further specialist networks in the coming years. Currently actively recruiting:

The Infectious Diseases Specialist Network has been in existence since July 2024. It supports clinical and clinical-epidemiological studies in the field of infectious diseases.
