The Central Biobank of Ulm University (CBBU) is an association of decentralised biobanks at the Ulm site. It links the biomaterial collections of the University's Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital and supports the individual sub-biobanks with common organisational structures, including procedural instructions, quality management, data management and a biobank information management system.
In addition, the CBBU helps the institutes with the preparation, characterisation, documentation, preservation, archiving and checking out of human biosamples and research data. It attaches great importance to quality standards in order to ensure that the collected and processed samples can be used in the best possible way for scientific studies. In addition to supporting the sub-biobanks, the CBBU actively promotes research projects and supports the planning and implementation of scientific studies.
