The Central Biobank Erlangen(CeBE) is an association of currently 15 biobanks in Erlangen. It is under the auspices of the Medical Faculty of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the University Hospital Erlangen and has set itself the task of supporting the affiliated sub-biobanks in their activities (collecting, characterising, registering, archiving and processing human biosamples to a high quality) and promoting scientific research projects.

The affiliated biobanks can benefit in particular from a centralised IT infrastructure and the provision of a quality management system. CeBE also represents the interests of the site biobanks at national and international level.
