The biomaterial bank of the University Tumour Centre is spatially integrated into the Institute of Pathology and is managed and supervised by pathologists. Research in the era of personalised medicine is tissue-based; for this reason, the professional storage and precise processing of human tissue samples is a basic requirement for "good research practice". Tumour research without tissue banks is impossible!

The biomaterial bank collects and stores blood and tissue samples from patients treated at the University Hospital (this requires revocable patient consent). Our biomaterial bank works in accordance with national and international standards.

It is our aim to make the biomaterial bank available as a platform for optimal co-operation for working groups at the university hospitals. We offer project-related support, help in compiling a patient collective and in finding suitable tissue for your questions.
