Registration for the new intake of the “Register-based Research (Regiba)” continuing professional development programme organised by the German Network for Health Services Research (DNVF) is now open. Developed as part of the National Cancer Plan and the Decade Against Cancer, this training programme has established itself in recent years as a nationally recognised qualification programme in the field of working with register data.
The aim is to equip professionals from research, clinical practice, registries, health insurance funds and industry with the skills required to conduct high-quality registry-based studies – with a particular focus on oncology, but increasingly beyond this field as well. The six-month course begins in September 2026 and combines digital modules, face-to-face sessions and project-based teamwork.
New to the current intake is a dedicated module on healthcare-related data (VeDa), which covers different data sources, access routes and potential uses within the German healthcare system. Relevant stakeholders from this field will present their work and current developments. The curriculum is supplemented by guest lectures from registries covering non-oncological conditions.
The background to this continuing professional development programme is the growing relevance of healthcare-related data for knowledge-generating healthcare research. Regiba places particular emphasis on interprofessional collaboration. During the course, doctors, healthcare researchers, statisticians and registry experts work in teams and learn to speak a ‘common language’ for registry-based research.
Upon successful completion, graduates will receive the ‘Health Scientist for Registry Research’ certification. The number of participants is limited to 25.
