NUM Coordination Office: Project Manager (d/w/m) – Research Management (Biobank Platform)
On 1 July 2026, the NUM project ‘Biobank Platform for Germany’ (BPD) was launched. The aim of the platform is to establish a nationally coordinated Research Infrastructure that simplifies access to quality-assured biological samples and associated data for the scientific community and industry. To this end, existing biobanks are being networked, common processes and IT solutions established, and efficient access to biological samples, clinical data and analytical data – in compliance with data protection regulations – facilitated. To support the GBN team at NUM, we are seeking a Project Manager to join us at the earliest possible date to provide independent technical support, monitoring and operational implementation of the BPD collaborative project. The scope of work and responsibilities include, in particular:
- Acting as the central point of contact for project partners regarding administrative, coordination or strategic matters
- Communication and close coordination with internal and external stakeholders (including NUM infrastructures, other research networks and project sponsors)
- Planning, coordinating and implementing work packages, measures and strategic objectives in close consultation with the participating project partners and cross-functional departments
- Monitoring project progress, milestones and the achievement of objectives, as well as identifying and tracking project-related risks
- Documentation of project-related results, processes and decision-making structures
- Organisation, as well as preparation and follow-up, of meetings of the project committees
- Responsibility for project-related reporting
- Co-ordinating the development and compilation of a catalogue of criteria for quality assurance within the BPD
- Conducting strategy workshops
- Developing opportunities for third parties, such as other research institutions or industry, to utilise the BPD’s infrastructure
- Supporting networking with national and international initiatives (e.g. BBMRI-ERIC)
- Supporting the project management team in steering, further developing and ensuring the long-term establishment of the Biobank Platform for Germany (BPD)

To support the GBN team, we are seeking an IT Project Manager to join us at the earliest possible date to provide independent technical support and monitor the operational implementation of the BPD collaborative project. The scope of work and responsibilities include, in particular:
- Conducting gap analyses to compare the current state of existing research data infrastructures with the technical, regulatory and subject-matter requirements in the context of biomedical research
- Planning, facilitating and evaluating requirements analyses with various stakeholder groups (including researchers, biobanks, industry and medical practices) – from interviews and workshops through to the structured consolidation of results
- Drawing up and maintaining specifications and prioritised requirement catalogues, and translating these into actionable work packages and backlogs for the development teams involved
- Facilitation and coordination of implementation across various IT development teams: prioritisation of work packages, coordination of interfaces, involvement in architectural and technology decisions, and release and milestone planning
- Establishing accountability across team boundaries: tracking agreements and dependencies; identifying and resolving business and technical conflicts of interest at an early stage; and escalating issues to project management where necessary
- Reviewing existing regulations (e.g. terms of use and data protection policies, SOPs, data governance and ethical guidelines, model consent forms) to identify the need for changes and preparing specific proposals for adjustments to inform the overall implementation strategy
- Contributing to the design, development and operation of research data management services (e.g. data repositories, metadata catalogues, data portals, interfaces/APIs) and the implementation of the FAIR principles, including via metadata schemas, persistent identifiers (DOI, ORCID, ROR) and standardised interfaces (e.g. REST, FHIR, OAI-PMH)
- Advising research projects on software development, data management plans and integration with national and international infrastructures (e.g. NUM, MII, NFDI, EOSC, BBMRI-ERIC), as well as networking with the RSE and FDM communities

RACOON: Medical Physicist or Computer Scientist for Research Infrastructure & Data Management (m/f/d)
The RACOON Research Infrastructure is seeking a Medical Physicist or Computer Scientist for Research Infrastructure & Data Management (m/f/d) at its Tübingen site.
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinating the RACOON radio-oncology sub-project at the Tübingen site and liaising with the participating German university hospital sites and the central RACOON consortium
- Managing and further developing the local Research Infrastructure (RACOON-NODE), including integration with the central environment (RACOON-CENTRAL)
- Responsibility for data management and database maintenance of the radiation oncology data collected within the project
- Ensuring the collection, processing and transmission of personal and pseudonymised data in compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR) and contributing to data protection policies for clinical trials
- Contributing to scientific publications, project reports and funding applications

OWL University Hospital: Bioinformatician / Research Assistant in Pathology (m/f/d)
The Institute of Pathology at OWL University Hospital in Detmold is seeking a Research Assistant (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible. The post is a fixed-term position for two years and is to be filled on a part-time basis (19.25 hours per week). As part of the CONFORM collaborative project, an AI-supported handheld device based on a confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) is being developed for the intraoperative analysis of abdominal tumours.
Responsibilities:
- Processing and organising biomaterials from the biobank
- Collection and analysis of datasets using ex vivo confocal laser scanning microscopy (KLSM)
- Annotation, processing and quality assurance of image and raw data for the creation of training datasets
- Development and evaluation of AI methods for tumour detection
- Design, development and maintenance of a structured database
- Contributing to the integration of AI into a medical technology system
- Close collaboration with clinical and industrial project partners
- Support with validation, documentation, reports and publications
