The data use and access process

The data from the AKTIN platform is available for research questions. All representatives of participating clinics, medical societies or public research institutions can submit applications for data analysis.

Before submitting an application, it is important to contact the AKTIN team for advice on the research project. Once the application has been submitted, the AKTIN Data Use and Access Committee reviews the applications in terms of scientific feasibility, ethics and data protection. The data request is then forwarded to the participating clinics. If the request is approved, the data is aggregated and analysed in the Trusted Data Analytics Center (TDAC) and then made available to the data requesters.

Would you like to use data for your research question? These are the next steps:

  1. Contact AKTIN: office@aktin.org.
  2. Briefly describe your project.
  3. The AKTIN TDAC team will advise you on the feasibility.
  4. Submit the formal application for data analysis (form will be provided).
  5. Wait for DUAC evaluation (2-4 weeks), you have the opportunity to participate in the DUAC meeting (digital) to present your application.
  6. If the application is approved by the DUAC, the data request will be sent to the participating Emergency Departments.
  7. Clinics release data (or not, the decision lies with each clinic).
  8. The data is then analysed in the TDAC.
  9. You receive the analysed results.
