SV-NATONxRACOON: Joint launch of the digital pathology and imaging platform

Tablet in den Händen eines Arztes

The SV-NATONxRACOON project aims to create a joint digital pathology and imaging platform. To this end, the NUM Platform for Autopsies and Pathology, NATON, is combining its expertise with the existing infrastructure of the NUM Platform for Imaging Data, RACOON. The aim is to make routine data and samples from pathology – including digital ones – more readily available for cross-site research in future and to support multimodal research approaches.

At the end of August, NATON and RACOON organised a joint kick-off event for the project. The virtual event was aimed at the (neuro)pathology and radiology departments of all participating centres, as well as at the administrative level. Representatives from the NUM Coordination Office and the project’s external partners were also invited to attend. Key topics included a presentation of the already established infrastructures NATON and RACOON, the external partners, and an overview of the joint project and the relevant work packages. With more than 140 participants, there was considerable interest in the new project.

With this momentum, we can now actively begin implementing the first organisational steps to ensure that everything is ready as soon as the formal funding approval is received.
