Public consultation on the MII core dataset – Release 2027

The Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) invites the public to submit comments on Release 2027 of the MII Core Data Set (KDS). From 15 September to 27 October 2026, interested individuals, institutions and organisations may provide feedback on the content, semantics and technical implementation of the KDS based on the international HL7 FHIR standard.

With a view to cross-site research, the aim of the MII Core Data Set is to establish uniform data structures and semantic definitions for the interoperable use of medical data across organisational boundaries.

With the 2027 release, the MII Core Data Set will be published for the first time as a consolidated, comprehensive product spanning all 20 modules. In addition to the public consultation, the MII is offering consultation sessions on the individual KDS modules, during which the content and its technical implementation will be presented and questions discussed with the respective KDS teams.

For the NUM community, the consultation phase offers the opportunity to contribute practical experience and requirements from research and clinical practice to the further development of a central standard for cross-site data use. Comments can be submitted via the HL7 Germany Ballot Portal or informally by email to the MII.
