Following the launch of the study centres in August, the first patients were enrolled in the PREVENT cohort study . As part of the PREVENT study, academic medical centres across Germany are investigating which clinical factors and pathogen characteristics influence the prognosis of patients with bloodstream infections caused by vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). The study also aims to determine the incidence of VRE bloodstream infections at German academic medical centres.
PREVENT works closely with the NUM Research Infrastructures NUKLEUS, NUM-MB Ethics Coordination, and the Study Network Infectious Diseases (SNID) within the NUM Study Network (NUM SN). A key feature of PREVENT is the pooling and networking of university infrastructures and expertise in the planning, collection and analysis of study data within the Network of University Medicine.
