This year’s RACOON Hackathon in Erlangen brought together 14 participants from various locations.
Following a joint kick-off session and the presentation of various topics, participants got straight down to practical work. The focus was on issues relating to the RACOON HIVE infrastructure and FHIR, as well as the technical preparations for the COMPARE project. Working in teams, participants further developed existing approaches, tested new ideas and devised concrete solutions.
The direct exchange of ideas across sites and teams proved particularly valuable. Different perspectives and experiences were brought together, technical issues were discussed jointly, and new impetus was gained for further development.
On the final day, the resulting projects and outcomes were presented. Alongside concrete technical progress on the Curation Portal and Study Portal, new approaches and ideas for future developments of the infrastructure were also identified. Through the working groups, local test environments, the usability analysis carried out by our external partner, the professional implementation by the HIVE team and planned external audits, ideas can not only be conceived and visualised, but also further developed right through to widespread use within RACOON Central.
The hackathon has once again demonstrated the added value of face-to-face exchange and collaborative work on specific issues. Many thanks to all participants and to the team in Erlangen for the organisation, their dedicated collaboration and the three productive days!
