Ethics committee gives the green light to observational cohort study
The Würzburg Ethics Committee has given its approval. Of particular note is the jointly developed inclusion process for patients who are acutely unable to give consent to prospective observational studies: the committee expressly endorsed the requirement for proxy consent to be obtained within 28 days. The project management team will now proactively approach all sites to jointly implement the next steps in accordance with the ‘One Study, One Vote’ principle (submission to the local ethics committee).
ADAPT-LUNG receives funding
ADAPT-LUNG, the network’s first use case as an adaptive platform trial for patients with acute respiratory failure, has also been approved. All university hospitals will be able to participate in patient recruitment. Further information will follow shortly.
Outlook and Timetable
- Observational cohort: to start after the summer holidays
- ADAPT-LUNG: Recruitment to begin in January, or earlier if necessary
