Medical data for better care: Magdeburg strong in the Network of University Medicine
How can medical data help to provide patients with faster and more targeted care, improve treatment processes and make the healthcare system more resilient? The event "NUM@UMMD - Research Initiatives and Opportunities of the Network of University Medicine at Magdeburg Academic Medical Centre", which took place on 29 January 2026 on the campus of Magdeburg Academic Medical Centre, provided answers to these questions. Around 100 participants from hospitals, research and politics took the opportunity to present current projects and discuss the potential of networked medical research in the presence of Saxony-Anhalt's State Secretary for Science, Thomas Wünsch.
Important infrastructures have been established in Magdeburg in recent years, such as a data integration centre (DIZ), the specialist network for infections and an AKTIN emergency admission register.
