The seventh edition of NUM Insights tookplace on 13 April. This monthly virtual training series, organised by the Local Coordination Units (LCUs) within the Network University Medicine, provides researchers and doctors with insights into project results from the NUM – this time featuring a presentation by the NATON team.
Project coordinator Benjamin Ondruschka and project manager Kristina Allgoewer presented the National Autopsy Network and reported on the method of minimally invasive tissue sampling in deceased individuals carrying highly infectious pathogens. The presentation focused primarily on the importance of autopsies for understanding emerging and rare (infectious) diseases, as well as NATON’s role in facilitating systematic autopsies through the nationwide networking of autopsy facilities.
