AI-assisted analysis of liver MRI scans: RACOON-MARDER is conducting research into the early detection of HCC

Can Artificial Intelligence detect signs of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in MRI scans of the liver before a tumour becomes visible? The NUM project RACOON-MARDER is investigating this question.

In an interview with Mint Medical, Prof. Dr Timm Denecke from Leipzig University Hospital provides insights into the project’s scientific work. Among other things, he discusses the creation of a training cohort comprising 600 to 800 cases, as well as collaboration within the network.

RACOON-MARDER is a research project within RACOON – the Radiological Cooperative Network – the NUM Platform for Imaging Data.
