The German Biobank Network (GBN) is a partner in the new EU-funded project CaBRIOH (Capacity Building in Research Infrastructures Towards One Health). The three-year project is coordinated by the European biobank network BBMRI-ERIC and brings together research infrastructures and experts from various countries. The aim is to develop and make available tailored training programmes for staff at research infrastructures in the One Health field.
The kick-off event took place on 17 September 2026 at the Medical University of Graz. In addition to the BBMRI-ERIC headquarters and the GBN, the following other BBMRI-ERIC member states are involved in the project: BBMRI.at, Swiss Biobanking, BBMRI.cz, BBMRI.es and BBMRI.it.
New training programmes for research infrastructures
CaBRIOH builds on existing training programmes and tried-and-tested approaches, developing them further in a targeted manner. The focus is on identifying skills and training needs, as well as developing new learning opportunities for staff at research infrastructures in the One Health sector.
A key element of the project is the planned ‘NextGen Training Platform’. It will be based on the BBMRI-ERIC Academy and is intended to bring together existing and newly developed training programmes. Users will be able to find suitable learning opportunities via the platform and put together individual learning pathways. Support will also be provided for digital evidence of acquired skills, including micro-credentials and Europass.
