The 3rd NATON quarterly meeting took place virtually on 24 September 2020, which also marked the start of the third funding phase of the Network University Medicine (NUM). For the first time, participation was recognised by the Hamburg Medical Association with three continuing education points. Following a research presentation by Dr Helena Radbruch on pegivirus-associated encephalomyelitis in immunocompromised patients, we welcomed our new NATON coordinator, Dr Tina Schaller from the Institute of Pathology at Augsburg University Hospital.
After a brief introduction, Tina Schaller presented the new S1 guideline on autopsies from the BDP, in which she was involved and in which NATON and NAREG are mentioned by name. She also gave an initial preview of upcoming events - including the NUM Convention in January 2026 and the 2026 DGP Annual Meeting in Augsburg.
Prof Dr Peter Boor and Svenja Windeck then reported on the current status of the NAREG process and gave a review of the last specialist conferences. For the first time, a case report by Prof Dr Benjamin Ondruschka from Hamburg Forensic Medicine concluded the event.
