Current BMFTR funding announcement on clinical studies

The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) has announced a guideline for the funding of projects on the subject of clinical studies with high relevance for the care of patients with post-infectious diseases. The measure is part of the National Decade against Post-Infectious Diseases.

The aim of this funding initiative is to close evidence gaps that are highly relevant for patients affected by post-acute infection syndromes (PAIS) and for the medical care of these people in Germany.

Eligible for funding are science-initiated clinical studies and systematic reviews of clinical studies according to international standards in the field of PAIS as well as concept phases for clinical studies with active patient participation.

State and state-recognised universities and non-university research institutions, healthcare institutions and providers (e.g. hospitals, rehabilitation facilities) as well as civil society organisations with their own legal entity are eligible to apply.

This is a two-stage application procedure. In the first stage of the procedure, project outlines must be submitted to the project management organisation in written and/or electronic form by 2 September 2026 at the latest.
