“The conference took stock of progress to date: the Network University Medicine (NUM) was presented at the event. This alliance of all German university medical centres already offers various multicentre research and data platforms to support clinical research projects, and will increasingly offer such platforms in the coming years.
“Strong clinical evidence relies on large, well-curated clinical data collections,” explained Ralf Heyder, head of the NUM Coordination Office. To this end, the infrastructure – specifically the various platforms – is being made available.
“The aim is to enable and support the collection and use of clinical data and biosamples for research across the entire spectrum of German university hospitals,” said Heyder. “This also applies to multicentre prospective clinical trials.”
