The RACOON Rocket & Science event brought together researchers, doctors, IT specialists and technical partners from all over Germany - a total of 26 of the 38 academic medical centres were represented. The intensive professional exchange showed the potential of a nationwide Reseach Infrastructure.
Two inspiring days full of science, dialogue and visions for the future
The first day offered a compact overview of the projects from the last funding phases of the project, including RECO, RESCUE, FADEN, CORE-PE and PDAC. A special scientific focus was placed on the presentation by Prof Kachelrieß, who vividly illustrated the possibilities of opportunistic screening using photon-counting CT. The congress concluded with a presentation by Mr Thesen on the evaluation of health-related data. In the evening, a visit to the MedMuseum, a guided tour of the city and dinner together at Steinbach Bräu provided a successful setting that opened up plenty of scope for personal dialogue and networking.
The second day began with a presentation by Prof Ganslandt, who showed how NUM structures and data can be effectively linked within the framework of ENRICH. This was followed by a presentation by B. Kainz then presented the importance of high-performance computing for modern medical research. A special highlight was the discourse on the future of Artificial Intelligence, characterised by the contributions of J. Schnabel on Foundation Models and T. Küstner on the opportunities and challenges of future AI developments.
The talks, encounters and professional discussions with our network partners were both enriching and valuable and we would like to thank the speakers and participants for coming.
