Permanent funding of the Network of University Medicine decided

At the meeting of the Joint Science Conference (GWK), the federal and state governments decided to provide permanent funding for the Network of University Medicine (NUM).

This means that the network's structures, which have been established over the past six years, can be secured in the long term and strategically developed further. The decision creates a reliable framework for coordinated, efficient and excellent clinical research at German university hospitals.

The permanent funding represents an important milestone for the sustainable strengthening of university medicine in Germany. It enables the NUM to further expand its activities, intensify cross-site cooperation and permanently anchor innovative research approaches.

We would like to thank the entire NUM community for their tireless efforts. The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) for its trust and continuous support. The Bundestag, which created the basis for the continuation of the programme in the federal budget in November, as well as the GWK for this landmark decision and the federal states for their continuous support of the university hospitals.
