The observational cohort study has started

Our observational cohort was launched as a pilot study at the Würzburg site. In addition to the first adult intensive care patient, the first two children and adolescents were also enrolled.

This marked the first time that paediatric patients had been included in an observational cohort study within a NUM specialist network. An observational cohort is a group of patients who are monitored and systematically documented over a specific period of time. The aim is to gain a better understanding of how acute organ dysfunction develops and progresses, and what factors influence recovery.

The next step will be to expand recruitment to the sites involved in the first phase of the specialist network.
